Murray Leith & Jo Laing
AS WE leave a disastrous year behind for everyone involved in the music industry, we would like to take the time at Glasgow Irish Bands & Gigs and also American Irish Bands & Gigs to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the huge support you’ve shown us in 2020.
We’ve covered some ground and have now streamed more than 20,000 online gigs since March. Our page has grown beyond what we expected it to and it makes us very proud that you’ve all been part of the journey with us.
We’ve done our very best to bring you not only artists you all know and love, but also artists you might never have seen or heard of, and to have achieved this with top musicians worldwide has been amazing.
Musicians from Scotland to New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, Ireland, Tenerife, Crete, Fuertventura, Canada and even Helsinki have got involved. As a result of their involvement, we have been able to greatly expand our musical knowledge and that’s due in no small part to so many of the great friends—we don’t like to use the term followers —on our page who have recommended the artists to us. In fact, this was our vision for the page, to bring people together—be they part of the audience or the performers themselves—and to create an appreciation for the music and a shared sense of joy.
We wanted the page itself to cover all types of Irish artists and styles and thanks to you all we are making that happen. In 2021, we will strive to make the page bigger and better and keep doing what we do.
Hopefully, this year, we will be able to showcase some live gigs and if we do, we plan to celebrate that in style with you all. We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the musicians who’ve supported us this year, it’s been an unreal journey and without you guys this wouldn’t of been possible.
Many thanks too, to The Irish Voice for giving us this platform to showcase many great Irish artists worldwide.
We wish you all a safe and Happy New Year.
