Sharon’s students find success at feis

THE easing of restrictions has been welcomed throughout the diaspora in Scotland, but none more so than those within the Irish dancing community, who have recently been taking part in competitions once again.

The Sharon Taylor Irish Dance Academy students were keen to get back into action and some of the performances at the recent John Flanagan Memorial Feis in London—the first live event since March 2020—were fantastic.

Oscar Donnelly was named the Boys 9-11 Champion, while Niamh Rodgers placed second in the Under-12 Girls Championship and Laura Davidson finished third in the Senior Ladies Championship. In addition to these notable successes, Yasmine Dhami secured four first places, one second place and one third place in the grades dances and also an amazing fifth place in the Under-7 championship. Cara Rodgers, meanwhile, was awarded one first place, two second place and two third place finishes in the 7-9 age grades as well as a fabulous second place in the Under-8 Championship.

“We had the best time and just to be able to feis again was amazing,” proud teacher Sharon said. “It was a little different from the norm, but it still felt like a proper feis. The kids all did amazing and it was well worth the trip.”
