GROWING up in East Kilbride in the 1960s was a bit surreal. As the first new town in Scotland, it was a bit of a social experiment and, by extension, its residents were the guinea pigs.

THE Men’s National Football League can be seen—from the outside at least—like the weigh-in before a heavyweight title fight. The pugilists get close, look each other square in the eye with maybe some shadow-boxing or actual pushing, before stepping off the stage knowing that the real deal is just around the corner.

“WHAT a lot of people might not know is that I’ve climbed 180 out of 283 Munros,” Fr Dominic Quinn said. “It’s a wee badge of pride, because I love the mountains and the outdoors. I’m no Chris Bonington, but I’ve done my best!”
