Mullins among the prizes once again
THE Dublin Racing Festival, that was due to take place at Leopardstown on January 31 and February 1, nearly didn’t happen this year due to over six inches of rain falling on the course in the week leading up. Photos prior showed much of the track completely flooded, which had racegoers and punters anxious to know if the meeting would go ahead or not. Eventually it was decided to hold over Saturday’s fixtures to the Monday (St Brigid’s Day) with Sunday thankfully able to go ah

Harps aim to continue their success story
FOR those of involved with Tír Conaill Harps GAA Club, it has always been about more than football. Since the club’s foundation in 1994, its members have worked to build something that reflects the very best of community sport—a club where young people thrive, families feel welcome and culture, wellbeing and connection sit alongside competition. Three decades on, the Harps remain a living, growing expression of that original vision.

Celtic in need of unity to salvage season
THE soap opera which surrounds Celtic in season 2025/26 has added even more twists and turns since The Irish Voice last went to press, and the drama is such that it would be almost impossible to sum it all up in the space allowed here.

Memories, milestones, Meath and me
AS I watched my daughter, Eva, take part in her last blitz of the season with Glasgow Gaels at Toryglen Regional Football Centre in the shadow of Hampden Park, I allowed myself some time to reflect on what was a year of milestones for us as a family in GAA terms. 2025 marked her first foray into the world of Gaelic Football, initially training with the Gaels under the watchful eye of their highly skilled and dedicated coaches before moving onto playing in blitzes. She loves t

A few gifts for the games we love
DEAR Santa, I’ve been a good boy this year—well, mostly. I’ve cheered, I’ve groaned, and I’ve written more words about GAA than I care to count. So instead of socks and selection boxes, I’m asking for something different: a few gifts for the game we love. After a rollercoaster 2025, here’s what I’m hoping for in 2026.

All roads lead to Cheltenham
IN NATIONAL Hunt Racing all roads lead not to Rome, but to Cheltenham. The four-day festival, held in March each year, has evolved and grown to such significance that discussions and analysis now start many months in advance.

Anything could become of Hibs’ season
HIBS enter the Christmas period of fixtures in fifth place in the league, curiously sitting 12 points above the relegation play-off spot and eight points off second place, so, literally anything could become of the Hibees’ 2025/26 league campaign.

A great year for Ceann Creige Hurlers
CEANN Creige Hurlers have continued to build on their success of the opening games. Whilst the number of games played was frustratingly less than what some would like, the lads ensured that when they did play, they put in an impressive performance.

Young Gaels footballers are flourishing
IT'S JUST gone 8pm on a Friday night in mid-September at the Glasgow Hutchesons’ Aloysians’ (GHA) rugby club just south of Glasgow. We’re standing by a neatly fenced 3G training pitch ringed by tall floodlights fending off the encroaching darkness looming beyond the trees at one end of the field. The summer months are coming to a close, but here the youth Gaelic football training is in full swing.

United hoping to improve league position
DUNDEE United’s recent run of games began at Ibrox, with the home side desperate to kick-start their season with a win. Rangers totally dominated the first-half going in 1-0 to the good at the break, before a fabulous second-half performance from Jim Goodwin’s side saw United take a 2-1 lead to a chorus of ‘boos’ from the home fans. The equaliser came when United introduced their North Macedonian left-winger Kristijan Trapanovski on the hour and the winger (above) announced h
