Beamish proves to be a big hit at Malones!

MALONES Glasgow—the Irish bar on Sauchiehall Lane in the city centre—has become one of the first venues in the heart of Glasgow to pour Beamish Irish Stout and drinkers emptied the taps within 36 hours!

The Cork-brewed stout landed at Malones on Thursday July 30 and had sold out by the weekend after unprecedented demand for the brew. Fresh stock is expected back in today.

Beamish—brewed in Cork since 1792—only returned to Britain in October 2025 when importer Cave Direct began a deliberately slow, phased rollout to a hand-picked group of venues. Long treated as something of a cult secret—for years you could really only find it in Cork—its arrival in Glasgow's city centre has been eagerly awaited by stout drinkers looking for an alternative to the usual pour.

For an Irish bar already known for its Guinness, adding Beamish was a natural fit and the response caught the team off guard.

“We knew there was appetite for it, but we didn't expect to be pulling the last pint inside two days. People were coming in specifically to try it, and plenty came back for a second and a third," Jordan Grierson, General Manager of Malones Glasgow, said.
