AN OUTPOURING of grief has followed a shocking incident as five young people, including Chloe Hipson from Bellshill (above), were killed in a collision in Dundalk.
Chloe, aged 21, died alongside Chloe McGee, 23, and Shay Duffy, 21, both from Carrickmacross, County Monaghan, Alan McCluskey, 23, from Drumconrath, County Meath and Dylan Commins, 23, from Ardee, County Louth.
Three others—two men and a woman—are being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Chloe’s death was met with shock and deep sadness in her home town, and across the communities where she had many friends, and her former college released a statement praising her as ‘bright and dedicated.’
“Everyone at South Lanarkshire College is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Chloe Hipson.
“Chloe was a bright and dedicated student who studied on our Quantity Surveying programme and was highly regarded by all her classmates and staff at the College. Our thoughts are with Chloe’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”
Chloe had studied at the college before she moved to Ireland, where she picked up her studies at Dundalk Institute of Technology.
“Despite joining a class who had already had a year together, Chloe fitted in immediately and made great friends,” a spokesperson said.“She was a diligent student, who was very friendly and good humoured and always smiling. She will be remembered fondly by all of us who knew her.”
