CEANN Creige came out on top in a fiercely contested clash against Wolfe Tones of Liverpool, edging the tie by just two points in a match that showcased precision versus power.
The Glasgow side relied on accurate point-scoring to defeat a Liverpool outfit that, while limited in opportunities, were clinical in front of goal.
Ethan Costello and Andrew Shannahan were instrumental for Ceann Creige, accounting for the bulk of their 20-point tally with a combination of sharp shooting and intelligent movement. They were ably supported by two superb long-range points from Conor McCormick, who impressed with his accuracy from distance. Jamie McFadden also chipped in with a booming long-range free that underlined the team’s scoring depth.
Despite being largely restricted in open play, Wolfe Tones remained a constant threat. They exploded into life in the second half with four superbly taken goals, punishing any lapses in the Ceann Creige defence with ruthless efficiency. Though they had far fewer shooting chances overall, their ability to convert goals from limited possession kept them firmly in contention right up to the final whistle.
In the end, it was Ceann Creige’s consistency and composure that saw them over the line. Their work rate and ability to keep the scoreboard ticking—particularly during key spells in the second half—proved just enough to withstand Liverpool’s second-half surge winning by a scoreline of 0-20 to 4-06.
