THERE was a mixture of sadness and joy for Stirling Carrigans GFC recently as they lost a dear member of their club in the midst of setting up their own youth section.
“Stirling Carrigans community were saddened by the passing of our committee member, Paul Hamill, after a battle with illness,” a club spokesperson said. “Paul had been pivotal for our development in his role as grants officer. He secured more than £1000 in funding and been a very active committee member. He also generously donated raffle prizes and used his local influence to spread the word of the club in the Stirling community.
“He was a much-loved dad, son, brother, grandfather and friend. Paul will be sadly missed by a great many people and all at Stirling Carrigans and the wider GAA community would like to extend our condolences at this sad time to all of Paul’s family and friends. Ar dheis dé go raibh a anam.”
On a happier note, Stirling Carrigans are working hard to develop Stirling Saltires—the club’s youth section—for 2026.
The club has been busy putting together a development plan, forming a youth committee and coaches are completing their safeguarding, PVGs and Introduction to Coaching Gaelic Games training (above).
The club is recruiting for committee roles and looking for sponsorship opportunities. They are asking interested parties to keep an eye on their socials for information on the launch of Stirling Saltires in the coming months.
