Malones to host Irish Heritage Day

ree

EDINBURGH'S Irish community will have another chance to celebrate its culture and heritage—and the chance to avail of some free pints—thanks to a special event being held this month in Malones Bar in Leith.

The popular Irish bar is hosting a free Irish Heritage Day on Sunday November 16 from 12pm to 5pm in partnership with QMU Gaelic Football Men's team.

The event will celebrate Irish culture through language, music, dance, storytelling and sport, with free entry and activities suitable for all ages.

To mark the occasion, Malones will be giving away 75 free pints of Guinness or Guinness

0.0 to the first 75 guests who attend and order at the bar from 12pm onwards.

The day kicks off at noon with free Irish language classes led by QMU GFC, offering 24 spaces for children, beginners and anyone looking to learn or brush up on their Gaeilge.

Traditional Irish storytelling sessions at 1pm will bring legends and folklore to life, particularly appealing to families and children.

At 2pm, the venue will screen Ireland's Word Cup qualifier against Hungary live throughout the bar with a dedicated viewing party in The Mezze. Irish dancing performances will also take place at around 2pm, giving attendees the chance to watch talented dancers and learn the steps themselves.

Throughout the day, guests can enjoy live traditional Irish music, sample authentic Irish food, enjoy an 'Irish Favourites' menu including Malones' famous spice bags and Irish beef stew and participate in a Teelings Whiskey barrel-top tasting session exploring the craft and history of Irish whiskey.

"Our Irish Heritage Day is all about bringing people together to celebrate the culture, language and traditions that make Ireland so special," Charlie Douglas, General Manager of Malones Leith, said. "Whether you're Irish, Scottish, or just love a good day out, there's something here for everyone.

"We're particularly excited about the free Irish language classes—it's a rare opportunity to learn Gaeilge right here in Leith. And with the Ireland match on at 2pm, the atmosphere is going to be electric. Best of all, it's completely free to attend, so you can drop in whenever suits and stay as long as you like."

The event is free to attend with no booking required. Walk-ins are welcome throughout the day. The Irish language classes, however, have limited capacity and must be reserved in advance. Tickets must be booked on Eventbrite via the following link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/irish-heritage-day-speaking-classes- tickets-1870506608619?aff=oddtdtcreator

With regard to the free Guinness offer, the first 75 guests to attend Irish Heritage Day and order at the bar from 12pm onwards will receive a complimentary pint of Guinness or Guinness 0.0. One free pint per person, while stocks last
