FROM the mills of the 19th century to the playing fields of today’s Gaelic games, Dundee’s Irish story is one of resilience, cultural exchange, and enduring community spirit. Far from being a relic of the past, Irish influence in the city is not only remembered—it is being actively revived.

A GREAT day’s play of handball was had recently at Broughton High School in Edinburgh, with some brilliant skills on display too. The fifth code of the GAA is fast-paced, fun and strategic and the event buzzed with excitement. There was immense enjoyment on the day for those playing for the first time as youngsters or as more experienced novices with the skill challenges. THERE are league victories, and then there are championship-winning performances. Tír Conaill Harps produced the latter recemtly as they successfully defended their league crown, overcoming Dunedin Connollys with a superb display of attacking football to secure back-to-back league titles.

DUNEDIN Connollys retained their Men’s Senior League title following a dramatic one-point victory over Glasgow Gaels in a tightly contested final at Peterson Park in Yoker.

THE Gaelic Football season is now well underway in Scotland and there are some familiar patterns beginning to emerge even in these early stages.

MARCH 2026 at Soccerworld, Old Glamis Road, Dundee will live long in the memory of those who are associated with the GAA on the East Coast of Scotland with a celebration of the most significant milestones since the founding of the Dalriada GFC on January 28 1990—a milestone on a par with the enthusiasm of the 58 children who participated and registered with the newest youth GAA Club in Scotland.

THE first year in the British Senior Championship was always going to be a tough season for the Ceann Creige Camogs.

IT'S JUST gone 8pm on a Friday night in mid-September at the Glasgow Hutchesons’ Aloysians’ (GHA) rugby club just south of Glasgow. We’re standing by a neatly fenced 3G training pitch ringed by tall floodlights fending off the encroaching darkness looming beyond the trees at one end of the field. The summer months are coming to a close, but here the youth Gaelic football training is in full swing.

THERE was heartbreak for Dunedin Connollys’ Men and Ladies sides recently in their quest for All-Britain glory.

TÍR Conaill Harps were crowned Intermediate Championship winners on a blustery afternoon in Glasgow, overcoming testing weather conditions and a determined Glasgow Gaels side to secure a deserved 0-09 to 0-06 victory. The win meant that Harps secured an impressive Intermediate double, adding to their earlier league triumph over Stirling Carrigans. Tír Conaill made a dream start, taking the lead inside two minutes, but Gaels quickly responded with two fine points of their own,

FOR the third time this season, Glasgow Gaels and Dunedin Connollys went head to head in what has become one of Scottish GAA’s most fiercely contested rivalries and once again, nothing could separate the sides in normal time. With Storm Amy swirling overhead, conditions were far from ideal in the Scottish Senior Men’s Championship. Playing with a strong wind at their backs, the Gaels made the most of the advantage in the opening half, racing into a 1-05 to 0-01 lead. However,

GLASGOW Gaels recently won the inaugural U15s Scottish Championship after a victory over Dunedin Connollys at Cambuslang Rugby Club.

IN 1427, the Scottish King James I had a cellar window in his palace blocked up as it was interfering with his handball game. This ancient Gaelic sport which is played similar to squash though without the racquet, has faded from popularity in Scotland though has continued with fervour in Ireland and beyond.

SCOTLAND’s representatives in both the Men’s and Ladies’ North of Britain competitions have been flying the flag with pride recently and look poised to reach the latter stages.
