Best in business recognised at Causeway Awards

THE best of Scottish and Irish business was celebrated in October with the eighth annual Causeway Awards, held at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh.

The prestigious event, a central part of the calendar for Causeway: Ireland Scotland Business Exchange, showcased the outstanding achievements in business across the Irish Sea and highlighted the power of cross-border collaboration.

More than 170 guests from Ireland and Scotland gathered to celebrate the achievements of members, with the evening’s proceedings supported by headline sponsor Johnnie Walker Princes Street. The awards ceremony marked a significant occasion for enterprises in both countries, recognising the companies and individuals who have made a meaningful impact across eight distinct categories.

Among the attendees were a distinguished group of guest speakers, including Depute Lord Provost of Edinburgh, Lezley Marion Cameron, Dr Alasdair Allan MSP, the Scottish Government’s Acting Minister for Climate Action, and representatives from the Irish Consulate, Consul General Jerry O’Donovan and Vice-Consul General Andrea Wickham-Moriarty.

In addition to the awards, the evening featured a charity raffle that raised more than £2500 for Social Bite and Welcome Organisation, two charities dedicated to combating homelessness.

Speaking at the event, Brigid Whoriskey, Co-chair of Causeway, expressed the importance of the Causeway Awards in promoting business excellence across the Irish Sea.

“The annual Causeway Awards gala serves as a perfect platform to spotlight excellence in business from both sides of the Irish Sea,” she said. “We take immense pleasure in honouring the accomplishments of the individuals and organisations representing the pinnacle of business achievement across Scotland and Ireland. They can take great pride in their dedication and hard work.”

Judith O’Leary, Co-chair of Causeway, echoed her sentiments, highlighting the determination and ambition of the award winners.

“The Causeway business awards serve as a testament to the exemplary businesses and individuals operating across Scottish and Irish industries,” she reflected. “What shines through overall is the unwavering ambition and determination displayed by this year’s well-deserving winners, setting an inspiring example for others to follow.”
