GlasGael promises to be a festival of fun!

THE GlasGael music festival will welcome up to 5000 festival-goers next month as the inaugural edition of the event takes place at Glasgow Green.

The festival is planned to be a celebration of Irish music and culture in the heart of one of the most Irish cities outside Ireland, and offers the chance to see some big names in the world of Irish music.

With The High Kings (above) headlining and names such as Sharon Shannon, The Tumblin’ Paddies and The Whistlin’ Donkeys making the journey over, local acts such as Liam McGrandles and Paddy Gunning also taking the stage, the range of artists on offer over the weekend of May 2-3 has something for everyone.

In addition to music from a host of artists, Irish language and storytelling events will also take place over the course of the festival’s first weekend, with dance exhibitions from local groups also set to thrill festival-goers.

“GlasGael is Glasgow's Inaugural Irish Festival running at Glasgow Green on Saturday May 2 and Sunday May 3, 2026,” organisers explained. “This brand new festival will celebrate Irish music, dance, arts and culture within a festival experience.

“Over the two days at GlasGael, you will experience so much of Irelands culture and heritage, and incredible Music performances from some of Irelands' biggest names Live in the Big Top Marquee.

"Alongside the music, there will be Energetic Irish Dancing Shows, Spoken Word and Irish Storytelling, and an opportunity to take part in some Irish Language Workshops to learn Cupla Focal.”

As the event nears, audiences are keeping a keen eye open for the final line-up, while the Irish community in Glasgow and across Scotland watch with interest to see how this latest sign of progress for our community and its culture proceeds.
